Ginnerijen
Ginnerijen refers to the places where cotton is processed to separate the cotton fibers from the seeds. This process, known as ginning, is crucial in the cotton industry as it prepares the raw cotton for spinning into yarn and subsequent manufacturing of textiles. Historically, ginning was a labor-intensive manual task. However, the invention of the cotton gin by Eli Whitney in 1793 revolutionized the process. Whitney's machine used a combination of a wire screen and rotating hooks to pull cotton fibers through, leaving the seeds behind. This mechanical gin significantly increased the speed and efficiency of cotton processing, leading to a substantial rise in cotton production.
The impact of the cotton gin was profound, particularly in the United States. It made cotton cultivation
