Giaever
Ivar Giaever is a Norwegian-born American physicist who shared the 2012 Nobel Prize in Physics. He was awarded the prize for "the experimental studies of the Josephson effect and the superconducting tunnel junctions." Giaever was born in 1929 and earned his Ph.D. in physics from the Technical University of Norway in 1956. He immigrated to the United States in 1958 and began working for the General Electric Research Laboratory in Schenectady, New York.
