Gewürzgurken

Gewürzgurken, also known as pickled gherkins or German-style pickles, are a traditional type of fermented or preserved gherkin that originates from Central and Eastern Europe. These small, cylindrical cucumbers are typically thin-skinned and have a mild, slightly tangy flavor, which is enhanced by their long fermentation process. The most common varieties include the small, round gherkins used in German cuisine, often referred to as *Gurken* or *Gurkenstangen* (cucumber sticks).

The preparation of gewürzgurken involves a combination of pickling and fermentation.
