Geprüftes

Geprüftes, derived from the verb prüfen (to test) and the past participle geprüft (tested/verified), is the neuter singular attributive form used before a neuter noun to indicate that the object has undergone examination or certification. It functions as an adjective signaling that the item has met specific standards or been inspected.

In German grammar, attributive adjectives are declined according to gender, number, and case. For neuter singular nouns without a definite article, the form is geprüftes. With the indefinite article ein, as in ein geprüftes System, the form remains geprüftes. With the definite article das, as in das geprüfte System, the form changes to geprüfte. In predicate position, the phrase is usually Das System ist geprüft (the system is tested), where the participle remains in its non-attributive form as the predicate.

Usage is common in quality assurance, product labeling, safety and compliance contexts, and certification processes. It appears in descriptions such as geprüftes Material, geprüftes System, or geprüftes Zertifikat, indicating that the item has passed inspection or met defined criteria. In official or legal language, the term can appear alongside other qualification marks, seals, or standards, sometimes in fixed expressions like geprüfte Sicherheit (documented safety) or similar formulations.

Geprüftes should be distinguished from nominal uses of geprüft, and from the noun-like title Geprüfter, which appears in certification names or job titles. As a general rule, prüft-related forms function as adjectives describing the result of testing, rather than as independent nouns.
