Gasafzetting

Gasafzetting is a Dutch term that translates to "gas deposition" or "gas deposition process." It refers to the process where a substance, typically in gaseous form, transforms into a solid or liquid state and adheres to a surface. This phenomenon is often observed in various industrial and natural contexts.

In industrial settings, gasafzetting is a crucial technique used in manufacturing and materials science. Chemical vapor deposition (CVD) and physical vapor deposition (PVD) are common examples. CVD involves a chemical reaction of precursor gases on a heated substrate, leading to the formation of a solid film. PVD, on the other hand, involves the physical transfer of material from a source to a substrate in a vacuum environment. These processes are used to create thin films with specific properties, such as protective coatings, semiconductor layers, and optical materials.

Natural gasafzetting can occur in geological processes. For instance, mineral deposits can form through the precipitation of minerals from hydrothermal fluids, which are essentially hot, mineral-rich water containing dissolved gases.
