Gammapeptidkötés
A gammapeptidkötés, also known as a gamma-peptide bond, is a type of covalent bond that can form between amino acids. Unlike the more common alpha-peptide bond found in most proteins, a gammapeptidkötés is formed between the gamma-carboxyl group of one amino acid and the alpha-amino group of another. This structural difference arises because certain amino acids, such as glutamic acid and aspartic acid, possess an additional carboxyl group in their side chain, which can participate in peptide bond formation.
The formation of a gammapeptidkötés results in a peptide chain with different chemical properties and a distinct
