Fényáramlás

Fényáramlás is a Hungarian term that translates to luminous flux in English. It is a measure of the perceived power of light, taking into account the human eye's sensitivity to different wavelengths. Luminous flux quantifies the total amount of visible light emitted by a source per unit of time. It is measured in lumens (lm).

The concept of luminous flux is important in understanding how bright a light source appears to an observer. While radiant flux measures the total energy emitted by a light source, luminous flux considers only the portion of that energy that is visible to the human eye. This is because the human eye is more sensitive to green and yellow light than to blue or red light. Therefore, two light sources with the same radiant flux may have different luminous flux values if they emit light at different wavelengths.

Luminous flux is a crucial parameter in lighting design and specification. When choosing light bulbs or designing lighting systems, luminous flux is used to determine how much light will be available in a given space. Higher lumen values indicate a brighter light output. For example, a 100-watt incandescent bulb might produce around 1600 lumens, while a modern LED bulb of much lower wattage can achieve a similar or even higher lumen output. Understanding luminous flux helps ensure that spaces are adequately and efficiently illuminated for their intended purpose.
