Freiheits

Freiheits is not an independent standard noun in modern German. It mainly appears as the bound form Freiheits- in compounds derived from Freiheit (freedom), or as a proper noun in place names or surnames in fictional contexts.

Etymology and usage: Freiheits originates from Freiheit. In German compounds the prefix Freiheits- signals a relation to liberty or the deprivation thereof. Common examples include Freiheitsstrafe, a legal term for imprisonment; Freiheitskampf, the struggle for liberty; and Freiheitsbewegung, a movement advocating freedom. The normal standalone form for the abstract concept is Freiheit; the plural is Freiheiten.

In literature, film, or game settings, Freiheits may appear as a fictional place name or organization, but there is no single widely known reference that defines the term itself.
