Fosforrühma

Fosforrühma refers to a group of chemical elements known as phosphorus and its compounds. Phosphorus itself is a nonmetal element with the chemical symbol P and atomic number 15. It is highly reactive and is never found in its elemental form in nature. Instead, it exists in various allotropes, such as white phosphorus, red phosphorus, and black phosphorus, each with distinct properties.

In organic chemistry, the term "fosforrühma" can also encompass organic phosphorus compounds, which are molecules containing a carbon-phosphorus bond. These compounds play crucial roles in biological systems, with adenosine triphosphate (ATP) being a prime example of a vital organic phosphorus compound responsible for energy transfer in cells. Phosphate rocks are a primary source for the production of phosphate fertilizers, which are critical for agriculture. However, excessive phosphate runoff into water bodies can lead to eutrophication, causing algal blooms and oxygen depletion.
