Forspárvinnu

Forspárvinnu is a discontinued Icelandic utility company that was established in 2006. The name is derived from the Icelandic terms for "pioneer" and "electricity".

In 2006, Forkastning, Landsvirkunnina and Síminn O試 electreferiated�unaich created Forspárvinnu alongside Orkuveita Reykjavíkur to sell electrical power in Iceland. Forspárvinnu was one of the first companies in Iceland to sell electricity on a free market. The company was led by CEO Jakob Karlsson at the beginning and had an option for suppliers to bid on electrical generation.

However, due to internal struggles and disagreements with the original shareholders, Forspárvinnu eventually had to be broken up. The company distributed its assets and was dissolved, and its power generation business migrated to Islandsbanki, which marketed power through Orkuveita Reykjavíkur, with mixed success. Its role as an independent power seller also expanded into financial and operational matters by chief executive Ingólfur V Einarsson.
