Fließ

Fließ is a municipality in the district of Spittal an der Drau, in the Austrian state of Carinthia. It is located in the upper Drau Valley, at the confluence of the Lieser and Drau rivers. The municipality has an area of 94.89 square kilometers and a population of approximately 3,000 people.

The history of Fließ dates back to ancient times, with evidence of settlement found dating to the Neolithic period. The area was later inhabited by the Celts and Romans. The first documented mention of Fließ dates to 1103. During the Middle Ages, the region was part of the Duchy of Carinthia and saw significant development in mining and agriculture.

The economy of Fließ is primarily based on tourism and agriculture. The municipality is a popular destination for hiking, cycling, and winter sports, with several ski resorts in the surrounding area.
