Flatlandians
Flatlandians are the inhabitants of a two-dimensional world known as Flatland. They are geometric shapes with varying social standings and professions. The most common Flatlandians are women, who are depicted as straight lines, and soldiers and laborers, who are equilateral triangles. Higher social classes are represented by polygons with more sides, such as pentagons and hexagons, who are merchants and gentlemen. The highest echelon of society consists of circles, who are the priests and intellectuals. Flatlandians perceive their world as a plane and are unaware of the third dimension. Their society is rigid, with strict laws and customs governing social mobility and interactions. They have a system of laws and a legal system that punishes those who deviate from social norms. Their understanding of the universe is limited to their two-dimensional perception, and they struggle to comprehend concepts outside of their experience. The concept of a third dimension is an abstract and almost heretical idea to most Flatlandians.
