Filmframställning is the Swedish term for filmmaking or film production. It encompasses the entire process of creating a film, from the initial idea and screenplay development to the final editing and distribution. The process is typically divided into three main stages: pre-production, production, and post-production.

Pre-production involves all the planning and preparation before shooting begins. This includes scriptwriting, storyboarding, casting actors, hiring crew members, securing locations, and creating a shooting schedule. It is a crucial phase that lays the groundwork for a smooth and efficient production.

Production, also known as principal photography, is the stage where the actual filming takes place. This is where the director guides the actors and crew to capture the visual and audio elements of the film according to the script and storyboard. It is often the most intensive and expensive part of the filmmaking process.

Post-production is the stage after filming is completed. This involves editing the footage, adding visual effects, sound design, music scoring, and color correction. The final film is then mixed and mastered before it can be distributed to audiences through cinemas, streaming platforms, or other media. Each stage requires specialized skills and collaboration among various professionals to bring a cinematic vision to life.
