Fialky, or violets, are a group of flowering plants in the genus Viola (family Violaceae). They include many species and garden hybrids, with widespread distribution in temperate regions of Europe, Asia, and North America. They are valued for their foliage, delicate flowers, and, in some species, fragrance.
Most fialky are small, herbaceous perennials or annuals with creeping stems. Leaves are rounded to heart-shaped.
In the wild they inhabit woodlands, meadows, and hedgerows, preferring moist, well-drained soils and partial shade.
