Felsdämme

Felsdämme, also known as rock dams or stone weirs, are structures built from rocks and stones to control or redirect the flow of water, primarily in rivers and streams. They are a form of hydraulic engineering that has been used for centuries in various cultures around the world. The primary purpose of a felsdamm is to alter the natural course of water, often to prevent erosion, create calmer pools, or facilitate water diversions for irrigation or other uses.

The construction of a felsdamm typically involves carefully placing stones of various sizes to form a barrier across the watercourse. The size and arrangement of the rocks depend on the specific requirements, such as the volume of water to be managed and the desired effect on the flow.
