Faserstrang
Faserstrang is a term used in materials science and textiles to denote a single continuous strand of material consisting of one or more aligned filaments. It may be a monofilament, consisting of a single filament, or a multifilament strand, consisting of many filaments bound together. Faserstränge are produced by extrusion of polymers for synthetic fibers or by drawing and twisting natural fibers. In textile production they serve as the base element for yarns after twisting or interlacing, while in composite manufacturing they are used as reinforcement in resins to create fiber-reinforced composites. The diameter of a Faserstrang depends on material and process, typically in the micrometer range for filaments, up to larger values for thicker strands.
Mechanical properties such as tensile strength, modulus and elongation at break depend on the material, cross-section
