Fargestabilisering refers to the processes and substances used to maintain or improve the colour stability of pigments, dyes and other coloured materials in various applications. The technique is essential in the fields of printing, paints, plastics, textiles and coatings, where colour fatigue, fading or colour shift can affect product quality and consumer satisfaction. Colour stability is compromised by light exposure, heat, oxidation, water absorption and the interaction of colouring agents with other components of the formulation. Fargestabilisering addresses these issues by incorporating stabilising agents that act as antioxidants, UV absorbers, encapsulants or protective coatings.

The balance between effective stabilisation and environmental impact drives ongoing research toward biodegradable and low‑toxicity additives.
