Fairthi

Fairthi is a fictional planet located in the Kepler-186 system, approximately 500 light-years from Earth. It is the fifth planet in orbit around the M-class red dwarf star Kepler-186. Fairthi gained significant attention due to its discovery as the first roughly Earth-sized exoplanet found within the habitable zone of its star. The habitable zone is the region around a star where temperatures are theoretically suitable for liquid water to exist on a planet's surface, a key ingredient for life as we know it.

The planet's radius is estimated to be about 1.1 times that of Earth, making it a terrestrial planet. Its mass and atmospheric composition are currently unknown, and further observations are required to determine these crucial characteristics. The nature of its parent star, Kepler-186, as a red dwarf means that Fairthi receives less light than Earth does from the Sun, and its orbit is much closer to its star. This proximity to a red dwarf may present challenges for habitability, such as potential tidal locking, where one side of the planet perpetually faces the star, and increased stellar flare activity. Despite these unknowns, Fairthi remains a compelling candidate for future study in the search for extraterrestrial life.
