FNmedlemslande

FNmedlemslande refers to the member states of the United Nations. The United Nations is an international organization founded in 1945 after World War II with the aim of preventing future wars. It is composed of sovereign states that have voluntarily joined the organization. Currently, there are 193 member states.

Each member state is represented in the General Assembly, which serves as the main deliberative and policymaking organ of the UN. Decisions on important questions, such as those concerning peace and security, admission of new members, and budgetary matters, require a two-thirds majority vote. Other questions are decided by a simple majority.

Membership in the UN signifies a commitment to upholding the principles of the UN Charter, including the peaceful settlement of disputes, the renunciation of the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state, and the promotion of universal respect for human rights. Member states contribute financially to the UN's budget and participate in its various programs and agencies.
