Fényirányváltozás

Fényirányváltozás, often translated as "change of light direction," refers to the phenomenon where light rays deviate from their original path when passing through different mediums or interacting with objects. This fundamental principle of optics governs how we perceive the world around us.

The most common cause of fényirányváltozás is refraction. Refraction occurs when light travels from one medium to another, such as from air to water or from glass to air. The speed of light changes as it enters a new medium, causing the light ray to bend. The amount of bending depends on the refractive indices of the two mediums involved and the angle at which the light strikes the interface. This phenomenon is responsible for why a straw in a glass of water appears bent or why lenses can focus light.

Another aspect of fényirányváltozás is reflection. When light encounters a surface, it bounces off. While it doesn't change medium, the direction of the light ray is altered according to the law of reflection, which states that the angle of incidence equals the angle of reflection. While less intuitive than refraction or reflection, diffraction plays a crucial role in phenomena like the colors seen in a soap bubble or the operation of optical instruments.
