Extraceululaire

Extraceululaire is a term used primarily in speculative biology and science fiction to denote extracellular phenomena that fall outside traditional categories such as the extracellular matrix, vesicular transport, or soluble signaling molecules. In most usages, it refers to hypothetical mechanisms or structures that operate in the pericellular or tissue milieu beyond the conventional definitions of cellular communication.

Etymology and usage of the word reflect its French roots, with extraceululaire thought to mean outside cellular boundaries. The term emerged in niche theoretical discussions and fiction in the late 20th and early 21st centuries, where writers and researchers explored ideas about information and material exchange that do not fit existing paradigms.
