Etikkaattisuoloja, also known as acetic acid salts, are chemical compounds formed when acetic acid, a weak organic acid, reacts with a base. Acetic acid has the chemical formula CH3COOH. When it reacts with a base, such as a metal hydroxide or amine, the hydrogen atom from the carboxyl group (-COOH) is replaced by a cation.
