Esterikaasun
Esterikaasun is a term used to describe volatile gases that consist primarily of esters—organic compounds that contain the ester functional group (R-CO-O-R′). In practice, esterikaasun denotes either individual ester molecules that are present as a gas at room temperature (or near-room temperatures) or mixtures of multiple esters in the gaseous phase. The term is more common in Estonian-language chemistry discussions and is not tied to a single defined compound.
Physical and chemical properties: Many esters have pleasant odors and are used as solvents and flavorings.
Production and occurrence: Esterikaasun can form during esterification reactions, transesterification, or the thermal decomposition of larger
Applications and relevance: In some contexts, esterikaasun is considered in studies of indoor air quality, fragrance
Safety and environmental aspects: Ester-based gases are typically flammable and can irritate eyes and airways. They
