Eskerkets
An esker is a long, winding ridge of stratified sand and gravel, typically several meters high and varying in length from a few hundred meters to over 100 kilometers. These geological features are formed by glacial meltwater streams that flow within, under, or upon a glacier. As the glacier melts, the meltwater erodes the surrounding ice and deposits its sediment load in the stream bed. When the glacier eventually retreats or melts away completely, the underlying sediment ridge remains, often retaining the sinuous path of the original subglacial or englacial stream.
Eskers are found in areas that were once covered by continental ice sheets, particularly in North America,
The study of eskers provides valuable insights into the dynamics of past ice sheets, including their flow
