Epevezetékben

Epevezetékben refers to the bile ducts, which are a system of tubes that transport bile from the liver and gallbladder to the small intestine. Bile is a fluid produced by the liver that aids in the digestion of fats. The bile ducts are essential for the proper functioning of the digestive system.

The bile duct system is divided into two main parts: the intrahepatic bile ducts and the extrahepatic bile ducts. The intrahepatic bile ducts are located within the liver, while the extrahepatic bile ducts are outside the liver. The common hepatic duct, which collects bile from the liver, and the cystic duct, which drains the gallbladder, join to form the common bile duct. The common bile duct then empties into the duodenum, the first part of the small intestine.

Problems with the bile ducts can lead to various health issues. Bile duct obstruction, for example, can occur due to gallstones, tumors, or inflammation. This obstruction can cause bile to back up into the liver, leading to jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes), itching, and abdominal pain. Infection of the bile ducts, known as cholangitis, is a serious condition that requires prompt medical attention.

Medical professionals may use imaging techniques such as ultrasound, CT scans, or MRI scans to examine the bile ducts. Procedures like endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) can be used for both diagnosis and treatment of bile duct problems, allowing for the removal of gallstones or the placement of stents to open blocked ducts. Treatment for bile duct issues depends on the underlying cause and can range from medication to surgical intervention.
