Englehart

Englehart is a town located in the Timiskaming District of Northeastern Ontario, Canada. Situated on the western shore of Lake Englehart, the town is approximately 80 kilometers (50 miles) north of North Bay. The area was historically inhabited by Indigenous peoples before European settlement.

The town's origins are linked to the Timiskaming and Northern Ontario Railway, which was constructed through the region in the early 20th century. Englehart was incorporated as a municipality in 1909. Its early development was driven by the lumber and mining industries that were prominent in Northern Ontario at the time.

The economy of Englehart has diversified over the years. While resource-based industries remain important, the town also serves as a service center for the surrounding agricultural and forestry regions. Tourism, particularly related to outdoor activities on Lake Englehart and in the nearby wilderness, also contributes to the local economy.
