Energytomotion

Energytomotion is a theoretical framework in dynamics that examines how energy transforms into motion within physical and engineered systems. The term emphasizes the flow and transformation of various energy forms—potential, kinetic, thermal, chemical—as they contribute to or resist movement. It is used to describe both passive and active motion processes, from gravitational descent to powered locomotion.

The theoretical basis combines the work-energy theorem with energy conservation, introducing a conceptual mapping between energy reservoirs and motion variables such as velocity and momentum. Proponents describe energytomotion as a state-aware approach that accounts for energy storage, dissipation, and input work, enabling a unified treatment of propulsion, braking, and energy recovery.

Applications include biomechanics, where the framework models gait by tracking energy exchange between muscles, tendons, and limbs; robotics and autonomous systems, where control strategies optimize trajectories for minimal energy cost; and education, where it offers an intuitive link between energy concepts and motion.

Critics note that the framework may obscure force-constraint interactions in non-ideal systems and that measuring all energy flows in real-time can be difficult. Nevertheless, supporters argue that energytomotion provides a coherent language for discussing motion from an energetic perspective and complements traditional force- and kinematics-based analyses.
