Energiavõrgust

Energiavõrgust refers to the electricity grid or power network within Estonia. It is the system of power lines, substations, and other equipment that transmits and distributes electricity from power generation facilities to consumers. The Estonian electricity grid is part of a larger interconnected system, with strong links to the grids of neighboring countries, particularly Latvia and Finland. This interconnection allows for the exchange of electricity, contributing to grid stability and security of supply.

The operation and maintenance of the energia võrgust are managed by specific companies. In Estonia, the main transmission system operator (TSO) responsible for the high-voltage grid is Elering. Elering ensures the reliable and secure operation of the transmission network, manages the flow of electricity, and coordinates with other TSOs in the region. Distribution network operators (DSOs) are responsible for the lower-voltage networks that deliver electricity to end-users within specific geographical areas.

The energia võrgust plays a crucial role in the functioning of modern society, powering homes, businesses, and infrastructure. Its development and modernization are ongoing, with efforts focused on increasing efficiency, integrating renewable energy sources, and enhancing resilience against potential disruptions.
