Energiamõõdik
Energiamõõdik, often translated as energy meter or electricity meter, is a device used to measure the amount of electrical energy consumed by a residence, business, or an electrically powered device. These meters are essential for billing purposes, allowing utility companies to charge customers accurately based on their usage. The standard unit of measurement for electrical energy is the kilowatt-hour (kWh). Older energy meters were typically electromechanical devices with rotating disks, while modern meters are predominantly digital, offering greater accuracy and features like remote reading capabilities. These digital meters can also provide more detailed information about energy consumption patterns, such as peak and off-peak usage. Smart meters are an advanced type of energy meter that can communicate two-way with the utility company, enabling real-time monitoring and more dynamic pricing structures. The installation and maintenance of energy meters are usually the responsibility of the electricity provider. Regular calibration and testing are performed to ensure the accuracy of the readings.
