Energiaketju

Energiaketju refers to the series of processes involved in the production, transformation, and delivery of energy from its primary source to the end-user. This chain typically begins with the extraction or capture of primary energy resources such as fossil fuels, renewable sources like solar or wind, or nuclear materials. Following extraction, these raw energy forms are often transformed into more usable forms. For instance, coal is burned to generate electricity, crude oil is refined into gasoline and other petroleum products, and sunlight is converted into electricity via photovoltaic panels.

The next stage involves the transmission and distribution of this converted energy. Electricity is transported over long distances through high-voltage power lines, then stepped down for local distribution. Natural gas is moved through pipelines, and refined fuels are distributed via trucks, trains, and ships. Finally, the energy reaches the end-user, which can be residential, commercial, or industrial consumers who utilize it for heating, lighting, transportation, or powering machinery. Each step in the energiaketju has associated costs, environmental impacts, and technological considerations. Efficiency and sustainability are key concerns throughout the entire chain, from source to consumption.
