Endoplasmatiline is a term derived from the Greek words "endon" meaning within, "plasma" meaning formed, and "reticulum" meaning a little net. It refers to a complex network of membranes found within the cytoplasm of eukaryotic cells. This network, often called the endoplasmic reticulum or ER, consists of interconnected sacs and tubules that extend throughout the cell. The ER plays a crucial role in protein and lipid synthesis, as well as calcium storage and transport.
