Empleat

Empleat is a Catalan noun meaning a person who is employed by an organization or company. The term points to an individual who receives remuneration in exchange for work performed under an employment contract or similar arrangement. The feminine form is empleada, and the adjective form can be used to describe someone who is employed, as in una persona empleada or un empleat estable.

Empleats are contrasted with employers (empleadors) and with independent workers; in everyday usage, empleat emphasizes the formal employer–employee relationship and the rights and duties that arise from it. In Catalan-speaking jurisdictions, employment relationships are regulated by labor laws and collective agreements, which typically cover aspects such as salary, working hours, vacation, safety, and social security contributions.

Common types of employment include full-time and part-time contracts, temporary or seasonal work, and remote or teleworking arrangements. There are also distinctions between public sector empleats and private-sector workers. The term can appear in administrative and contractual language, such as in a contract of work, payroll documentation, or workplace policies.
