Emancipating

Emancipating refers to the act of freeing someone from a state of subjugation, control, or dependence. It is a process that involves the granting of legal or social freedom to an individual or group who were previously considered property or under the authority of another. This can manifest in various contexts, such as the emancipation of enslaved people, the emancipation of minors from parental control, or the emancipation of a nation from foreign rule.

Historically, the most prominent example of emancipation is the abolition of slavery.
