Prokaryotic animal cells, on the other hand, are simpler and lack a true nucleus. Their genetic material is contained in a nucleoid region, and they do not have membrane-bound organelles. Instead, they have a plasma membrane and a cytoplasm that contains ribosomes for protein synthesis.

Animal cells can undergo various processes, such as mitosis and meiosis, which are essential for growth, repair, and reproduction. They can also communicate with each other through chemical signals and physical connections, allowing for coordinated functions within multicellular organisms.

The study of animal cells is crucial for understanding the biology of animals and has applications in medicine, biology, and biotechnology. Techniques such as microscopy, cell culture, and genetic engineering are used to investigate the structure and function of animal cells, leading to advancements in our knowledge of life processes and potential treatments for diseases.
