Elektronbesugárzás, also known as electron irradiation, is a process where a material is exposed to a beam of high-energy electrons. This technique is employed in various scientific and industrial applications due to the unique properties of electrons as projectiles. Electrons, being charged particles, interact strongly with matter, leading to ionization, excitation, and displacement of atoms within the material.

The energy of the incident electrons is a critical parameter, typically ranging from a few keV to tens of MeV. At lower energies, electrons primarily interact with the surface layers of the material, causing surface modifications such as crosslinking or degradation of polymers. At higher energies, electrons can penetrate deeper into the material, affecting its bulk properties.

In semiconductor manufacturing, electron beams are used for lithography to pattern microelectronic devices. Furthermore, it finds applications in research for generating electron-positron pairs and in the development of advanced sensor technologies.
