In biology, electrolytes like sodium, potassium, calcium, and magnesium are crucial for nerve impulse transmission, muscle contraction, and maintaining fluid balance within cells and the body. In industrial applications, electrolytic solutions are used in electroplating, electrolysis for chemical production (e.g., aluminum, chlorine), and in batteries to facilitate the flow of charge between electrodes. The concentration and type of electrolytes in a solution significantly influence its conductivity and chemical reactivity.
