Elbeszélésbe

Elbeszélésbe is a Hungarian term formed from elbeszélés (narration, storytelling) and the illative suffix -be, literally meaning "into the narration." In literary analysis, it designates the device of embedding a narrative within the main narrative, i.e., an embedded or nested tale told within a larger text. This technique allows an author to introduce a secondary storyline, a digression, or a recollection without interrupting the outer plot more than necessary.

As a narrative device, elbeszélésbe serves several purposes: it can provide background information, reveal character through storytelling, shift perspective, or create meta-narrative effects. It is related to, but distinct from, a frame story (kerettörténet); while a frame story often organizes the whole work around a primary outer narrative, elbeszélésbe refers to individual inserted tales within the main text.

Linguistically, elbeszélésbe is a form of elbeszélés used with the illative case, indicating movement into the act of telling or the moment the inner narrative begins. It is not a separate syntactic category but a way to describe the narrative placement of a tale within the text.
