Egeïsche
Egeïsche is the Dutch adjective meaning “Aegean,” used to refer to the Aegean region, its sea and the surrounding areas. In geographic terms, the Egeïsche Zee, or Aegean Sea, lies between Greece to the west and north and Turkey to the east, and is part of the larger Mediterranean Sea. It is bounded by the Balkan Peninsula to the northwest and the Turkish mainland to the east, and is connected to the Sea of Marmara via the Dardanelles and to the Black Sea via the Bosporus and the Sea of Marmara.
The Egeïsche region encompasses a highly archipelagic area, including the Cyclades, the Dodecanese, the North Aegean
Historically, the Aegean has been central to ancient civilizations and cultural exchange, hosting early Greek cultures
In Dutch usage, Egeïsche can modify nouns to denote the Aegean-related sense, for example Egeïsche Zee (Aegean
