Edullisemman

Edullisemman is a declined form of the Finnish adjective edullinen and denotes the comparative degree. It translates roughly as "more economical," "cheaper" or "more advantageous" and specifically appears as the genitive (and correspondingly the accusative) singular of the comparative edullisempi.

Formation and grammar: the positive adjective edullinen ("inexpensive, favourable") takes the comparative suffix -empi to become edullisempi. When inflected to genitive/accusative singular, the comparative form appears as edullisemman. The form is used to mark possession, definite objects or other grammatical relations that require the genitive/accusative case in Finnish.

Usage and examples: edullisemman commonly modifies nouns related to price, choice or benefit, for instance Tarvitsen edullisemman auton ("I need a cheaper car") or Valitsimme edullisemman vaihtoehdon ("We chose the more economical option"). It can also occur in phrases expressing reasons or conditions: Edullisemman hinnan vuoksi ostimme tuotteen ("We bought the product because of its lower price").
