Ealdmund
Ealdmund, also spelled Ealdmund or Ealdwulf, was a medieval English king who ruled the Kingdom of Northumbria from 633 to 634. He was the son of King Edwin of Northumbria and his wife Ethelburga. Ealdmund's reign was marked by political instability and conflict. His brother Oswiu, who was also a claimant to the throne, challenged Ealdmund's rule. The conflict between the two brothers ultimately led to the Battle of Heavenfield in 633, where Ealdmund was defeated and killed. After Ealdmund's death, Oswiu became the sole ruler of Northumbria. Ealdmund's reign was brief and turbulent, but his legacy is largely overshadowed by the events that followed his death.
