EVPt refers to the process of Electronic Voice Phenomena recording and interpretation. It is a paranormal investigation technique used to capture anomalous sounds, often interpreted as disembodied voices or sounds, on digital or analog recording devices. Proponents believe these phenomena are evidence of spirits or entities attempting to communicate.

The methodology typically involves using audio recording equipment, such as digital voice recorders or mobile phones, in locations believed to be haunted or having paranormal activity. Investigators often employ periods of silence, asking questions into the recording device, and then listening back to the recorded audio for any unexpected sounds or voices. Skeptics of EVPt suggest that the perceived voices are often the result of auditory pareidolia, a psychological phenomenon where the brain interprets random noise as meaningful patterns, such as speech.
