ERmembraan
ERmembraan refers to the endoplasmic reticulum membrane. The endoplasmic reticulum, or ER, is a network of membranes found throughout the cytoplasm of eukaryotic cells. This network consists of interconnected sacs and tubules called cisternae. The ER membrane is a lipid bilayer, similar to the plasma membrane, composed of phospholipids and proteins. It plays a crucial role in protein synthesis, folding, modification, and transport, as well as lipid synthesis and calcium storage. There are two main types of ER: the rough ER, studded with ribosomes, and the smooth ER, which lacks ribosomes. The ER membrane is dynamic, constantly undergoing fusion and fission events, and it is continuous with the outer nuclear membrane. Its structure and function are essential for the cell's overall health and operation.
