EGME

EGME, or Ethylene Glycol Monomethyl Ether, is an organic compound with the chemical formula CH3OCH2CH2OH. It is a colorless liquid with a mild, ether-like odor. EGME is a member of the glycol ether family of solvents, known for their ability to dissolve both water and organic substances.

Industrially, EGME has been used as a solvent in a variety of applications. These have included its use in paints, lacquers, varnishes, dyes, and inks. It has also found applications as a component in hydraulic fluids, brake fluids, and de-icing solutions. Its solvency properties make it effective in cleaning agents and as a chemical intermediate in the synthesis of other compounds.
