E2Ftranskription
E2Ftranskription refers to the process by which genes regulated by E2F transcription factors are transcribed into RNA. The E2F family of transcription factors are proteins that play a crucial role in the regulation of the cell cycle, particularly in the transition from the G1 phase to the S phase, which is when DNA replication occurs. They achieve this by binding to specific DNA sequences called E2 recognition sites in the promoter regions of target genes and either activating or repressing their transcription.
The activity of E2F proteins is tightly controlled throughout the cell cycle. In G1, E2F activity is
Dysregulation of E2F activity is implicated in various cancers, where uncontrolled cell proliferation is a hallmark.
