Dôvernos

Dôvernos is a term found in Slavic-language contexts that relates to confidentiality and trust. It denotes information or relationships kept private or shared only with consent or authorized persons. Conceptually, dôvernos covers two linked strands: the confidentiality of information (dôvernosť) and the trustworthiness of people or institutions (dôverný).

Origin and variant forms: The root dôver- stems from the verb dôverovať, meaning to trust. The standard noun is dôvernosť, and adjectives use dôverný. The form dôvernos is not a standard Slovak noun in major dictionaries; it may occur as a dialectal variant, a truncation in compound terms, or a misspelling. In formal writing, dôvernosť and dôverný are preferred.

Usage and examples: In legal and administrative contexts, phrases such as zachovať dôvernosť (to maintain confidentiality) or dôverný spis (confidential file) are common. In data protection, confidentiality is described as zachovanie dôvernosti údajov. In everyday language, dôverný vzťah means a trusted relationship, and dôverný zdroj refers to a confidential source.
