Dziaamy

Dziaamy is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Kleczew, within Konin County, in the Greater Poland Voivodeship of west-central Poland. It lies approximately 30 kilometers north of the county seat of Konin and 95 kilometers east of the regional capital Poznań. The settlement is situated on the northern bank of the Warta River, surrounded by mixed agricultural land and forested areas.

The first documented mention of Dziaamy dates to 1421, when it was recorded in a royal charter as part of the estate of the local noble family. Throughout the centuries the village remained a small agrarian community, with its economy traditionally based on crop cultivation, particularly wheat and rye, and livestock farming. In the 19th century, the construction of a railway line connecting Konin to Poznań brought increased connectivity, though the village itself did not develop industrial infrastructure.

Dziaamy’s cultural life is centered around the St. John the Baptist Church, a wooden structure built in the late 16th century, which now serves as a local historical monument. An annual harvest festival, celebrated in late September, attracts residents from neighboring villages and highlights traditional Polish music, dance, and cuisine.

According to the 2011 national census, the population of Dziaamy was 482 inhabitants. The village maintains a primary school and a community center, and it is part of regional efforts to promote sustainable agriculture and eco-tourism within the Greater Poland countryside.
