Dudaklar

Dudaklar are the fleshy, protrusible lips that surround the opening of the mouth in humans and many other animals. In humans, the lips are highly sensitive and play a crucial role in various functions, including eating, speaking, and expressing emotions. The upper lip is called the labrum superior, and the lower lip is called the labrum inferior. Between the lips is the rima oris, or oral fissure.

The external surface of the lips is covered by skin, while the internal surface is lined with mucous membrane. This mucous membrane contains numerous minor salivary glands that keep the lips moist. The vermilion border is the distinct line where the skin of the lip transitions to the mucous membrane. The philtrum is the vertical groove located between the base of the nose and the cupid's bow of the upper lip.

Dudaklar are rich in blood vessels, which contributes to their characteristic color and their ability to quickly warm up. Their muscular structure allows for a wide range of movements, essential for functions like sucking, chewing, and forming different speech sounds. In non-human animals, the structure and function of lips can vary significantly depending on their diet and feeding mechanisms. For instance, some animals have prehensile lips used for grasping food.
