Drivkrater

Drivkrater is a documented impact crater on the fictional planet Drivia in the Veridian system. It spans about 3 to 4 kilometers in diameter and features a well-preserved rim, a central peak, and an ejecta blanket that extends several kilometers. The crater’s morphology indicates a complex crater formed by a mid-sized impact, with terraced inner walls and a shallow central uplift. Sedimentary units exposed in the walls reveal alternating layers of basaltic bedrock and impact melt sheets.

Location and observation: Drivkrater lies in the equatorial highlands of Drivia, where radar and high-resolution imaging from orbital platforms have mapped its structure. It was named by the Drivian Geoscience Consortium after a mythic figure Driv, a symbol of movement and change.

Scientific significance: The crater serves as a reference site for studying impact processes and regolith formation on Drivia. Comparisons with similar-sized craters on neighboring bodies have helped constrain crustal properties and impact melt behavior under Drivian conditions. In-situ analysis by landers and future sample-return missions are planned to characterize mineralogy and volatile content in the ejecta.
