Doppleren
Doppleren is a term that refers to the Doppler effect, a phenomenon observed when there is relative motion between a wave source and an observer. The most common manifestation of the Doppler effect is with sound waves, where the perceived frequency of the sound changes depending on whether the source is moving towards or away from the observer. If the source is approaching, the waves are compressed, resulting in a higher perceived frequency (a higher pitch). Conversely, if the source is receding, the waves are stretched, leading to a lower perceived frequency (a lower pitch).
This effect is not limited to sound. It applies to all types of waves, including light waves.
