Dodoma
Dodoma is the capital city of Tanzania, situated in the central highlands of the country and serving as the administrative center within the Dodoma Region. As the political heart of the nation, it houses the Presidential Office, the Parliament (Bunge La Taifa), and many ministries and government agencies. The designation of Dodoma as capital reflects a long-running plan to shift administrative functions away from Dar es Salaam to promote development inland; the relocation began in the 1970s and was largely completed by the 1990s, although Dar es Salaam remains Tanzania’s main economic hub.
